Stymphaly / A Place Of Mythology

Heracles a divine Greek mythology hero, son of Zeus and Alcmene, defeated, int his place, the Stymphalian Birds who infested the Arcadian Wood around the lake.
The lake was called Stymphaly after the fearful Stymphalian birds.

Slaying the Stympalian Birds were one of the 10 Labours of Heracles.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labours_of_Hercules

Slay the Stymphalian Birds

These aggressive man-eating birds were terrorizing a forest near Lake Stymphalia in northern Arcadia. Heracles scared them with a rattle given to him by Athena, to frighten them into flight away from the forest, allowing him to shoot many of them with his bow and arrow and bring back this proof of his success to Eurystheus

Many decades ago a strong earthquake changed the area for ever. The ground under the lake was shattered and the water of the lake was sucked under the ground and it is pouring aome kilometers away in another region. Rarely the underground passages become saturated and the water rises slightly on the area.

I visited this place again some weeks ago and I share some photos of this favorite place.

High Dynamic Range Panoramic Multiple Shots
The photo is made out of 9 Vertical and bracketed shots in sets of 3.
That means that it is a Panoramic photo made out of 3 Vertical Shots. Each shot is a Vertical Bracketed merged image of 3 exposures.
I'm not writing the settings because I will need the whole page.
I took the images and they were merged in ACR which merged the panorama and made the HDR processing at the same time. It recognises automatically the bracketed shots and the panorama and does it all with a setting and the press of a button.

An incredibly hard image to process because of the extremely high dynamic range of the scene. The contrast between the sky and foreground was very high. It took me alot of effort to process. Just check the shutter speeds!

Me and my beloved Uncle. A multi awarded former professional photographer. He quitted doing it professionally at a young age and kept on as an amateur. He also collaborated once as a photographer in documentary of a remote island, with National Television.

The photo was taken with my D750 by my aunt. I took them with me to share with them the roadtrip.

I like all your images here with a slightly preference for the first one. The third one is also very beautiful with this path in the cereals.

I love high dynamic ranges...It's always difficult to get good results, but when I do, I get a lot of satisfaction.

Thank you very much for your feedback Morexp57 Morexp57 !

The first is indeed very nice. Although it was an HDR image i tried to keep it aa natural as possible without any exaggerations in color or in ending up with a very flat lighting result.

Goodmorning and Thank you Andy Smith Andy Smith! The weather was peefect for my taste, for photography.
That weekemd the forecasts said that the weather was goi g to be bad and everybody canceled their roadtrips and weekend stays in destinations and countryside. The place I visited is a popoular destination 1 hour and 40 minutes from my city and was empty of visitors. But it was a fine chance for photos for me.
People have become overaly too cautious of things and TV panics People in favour of making viewing nunbers....

I love the history and the amazing photos. I love a story that goes with photos, it makes the images become more alive, whether its your or histories story. And you have had an amazing tutor as well. Thanks for sharing all of them. My wife loves Greece, and keeps talking about going back there. I have never been, maybe one day.
