This picture is from February 3rd. I would love to know what you think about it. The framing is not classic and the landscape looks compressed, but personally, I like the result.

These mountains are Les Cornettes de Bise, and the Franco-Swiss border passes through the summit. The picture is taken from the surroundings of Mont Pèlerin, in Switzerland.

Like you say, the framing is not a classic. The mountains look a little out of focus to me, which detracts from the image as I prefer to see sharper detail in mountains when they are this close.
The action on the clouds is great and I like the 3 stages of separation for the foreground, mid ground and background. I just think the foreground is a bit boring and may have been better if the trees were not cut off, so we could see the trunks to add more interest. A portrait orientated image may work better with the composition on this one.

Interesting approach, I see some nice concepts like the layering and simplification of the landscape. I like the cloud and climate, adds mood to the scene, nice light too. To my eye the crop appears tight and not at the bottom which may or may not improve with full trees but I am referring to the sky above the mountains, this could be an extra layer in your photo.

I think Andy Smith Andy Smith's idea of using a portrait orientation could improve this composition. I'm undecided on the focus of the mountain, my instinct tells me the mountain is the main subject of the photo and therefore they should be sharp but at the same time this is a very different type of landscape and perhaps thats not what you were aiming for. Shooting in hyperfocal could be a solution if you decide you want sharpness throughout the image. On another note this image would be quite nice in B&W as well.

Thanks for sharing 🙏

Nice concept of 4 segments. Sky, Mountain, Myst, Trees. A little more space on the sky and tree part would balance it even better, but this is just my point of view.
