Colwyn Bay Pier was dismantled after storm damage during an extended ownership wrangle. It was reconstructed in a notably shorter format. Railing sections are at least original, complete with the C P Co logo (Colwyn Pier Company).

Critique and opinions all welcome!

I like the details of the fence. But I would have liked more light on the background. Maybe by combining two exposures?

Hello and thanks for the response.

You make a very good point and this one does at least have some background to work with. The other side of the pier has nothing, it is just a few trees lining a railway and no skyline or lighting.

Funny enough, the spotted areas of lights in the background, with the amazingly lit foreground works well for me. JPG newton rings are always a killer; newton rings, as we called them back in ye oldy days, came with slides that were protected by glass. You could see an oily colouration between the glass and slide which gave a similar effect. Photography is an art, and therefore its a subjective world.
