That's more a question for drone pilots.

Slightly confused about legal requirements for flying a drone for personal recreation.

I know I need a flyer ID, but someone said I need additional training to be able to fly a drone.

Not sure how truth is that, I know about additional training and license to fly for commercial purposes or flying near people.

You don't need additional training, but it all depends on what drone you are flying. If you want to fly a drone over the 250g weight and in a public area then you would need to complete the A2

What do you mean in a public area ? Yes, the air 2s is more than 250g. I don’t fly it in London, mostly in national parks or forests.
