Hello,

I was able to head to the coast last weekend and managed to get some lightning photos for the first time. It was quite an experience. As the storm built up I got excited thinking of what I may capture. I have been interested in capturing some storm photos for a while but never got the chance before. It was a perfect balmy night and I put my camera into interval shooting. I got around 10 very good lightning shots but I also overstayed because I also found 2 shots where everything was more or less pure white, which meant the storm was right above. Reminder to myself to not be outside under a lightning storm for the next time. Hope you like it.

Wonderful shot C Chavezshutter !
Storms or stormy weather are one of my favorite things. You did capture a really nice shot!
You are right though. It needs some caution because weather in out times is a bit harsh and quite unpredictable due to climate change affect.
I was out once capturing storm photos when suddenly the storm came over me. I didn't have time even to pack my camera. I was soaked.
Anyway very nice shot and excellent purple glow in the sky!

Very nice! The sky colour is unique. How many shots did you fire to get this one?

I shot a timelapse which I plan to make into a video later, all up it was over 1100 images but I was using a short shutter of 1-3 seconds as I wanted some texture in the sea. I got about 8 really good lightning shots (one I call God's sword, it is a massive strike, hope to show it later) and I also got about 10 shots where the lightning did not create a lightning strike that hit the ground but it did light up the clouds and show texture. I used about 3 of these shots that had the clouds lit it up and combined them with one lightning strike shot to make this photo.
