General Socialising

Non photography thread. How you guys socialising with others? I personally finding it very difficult, I feel that people are selfish and cold with each other. Unfortunately, I'm the person with no friends. Probably because I'm introvert person, and I don't go pub or clubs to make friends.

I am very much like you in that respect. I like to be alone. And for that, photography is the perfect hobby for me.
I've only had three real friends in my life. One died, I'm estranged from the second, I've only got one left.

I thought I'm the only one without friends. Sometimes I find it hard, but yes, agree photography sometimes helps me to get along with it.

I also happy to say that I made some virtual friends on communities I've built.

Lots of friends here, from all walks of life. I have travelled extensively throughout my life and always met good people wherever I have been. I am outgoing anyway, so will always talk to strangers, or people I see around regularly.
I have my "me time" quite often also and quite happily go for long periods of time with just my own company, but I do like to party, mix with other folk and do enjoy meeting new people, who become good friends.

I do not socialize at all. I have very few selected people I come in touch with. My uncle who does also photography and we share many interests. We spend time in weekends discussing and a couple of friends.
I had some hard times in my life quite a few times and I devote a lot of time to son and myself.

It is difficult to socialise with other people especially if I have nothing to share with.

We don't socialise at all, much. In fact, I had this conversation with my wife the other week. It was mainly a reference to doing photography, in that it's either a shared experience with spouse/partner or if it's just you. Just like golfing widows/widowers, photography can be a solo path. Which plays on my mind a lot, as I would love to get out more to do photography. Guilt is my problem, thinking it's a selfish thing to do, to leave Sheila tidying the house, cooking or what ever needs to be done. Plus all the work I haven't yet done. And the bike stays in the garage too for the same reason.
The other common theme here, is finding people who have an open mind, people who listen and communicate. I can talk the hind leg off a donkey at times, and at other times, just sit back and do two things, listen and observe, or fall asleep! 💤
Jack, you say you're an introvert, but I see what you have achieved here and your other forums. Don't ever take yourself down, you have done an amazing job with all of these projects, working tirelessly to keep this going. I applaud you, for your tenacity and resolve, which is why I know you will succeed. Carry that banner with pride. I know for the short period of time I have been here, your personality comes across as honest and have humility. I know so many people who would not share the things you have here, too bottled up and pushed into the cycles of just living. Which only proves to me, that you are questioning your reality. The other common theme here, is finding people who have an open mind, people who listen and communicate.

That's even harder. People are stuck on social media sites, or in front of TV watching BBC or Netflix.

Jack, you say you're an introvert, but I see what you have achieved here and your other forums. Don't ever take yourself down, you have done an amazing job with all of these projects, working tirelessly to keep this going. I applaud you, for your tenacity and resolve, which is why I know you will succeed. Carry that banner with pride. Thanks lightmuncher , I believe that we should give more to the world than we take. That's why I've built these communities, I'm happy to say that I meet wonderful people in these communities.

Yes I do socialise here. It is hard to find people with creative interests. In our modern society any person who is in something creative like arts it is often considered as someone who is not of the ordinary. Or very 'romantic'. At least that is what I'm noticing or receiving from people around me.

The normal routine of most people is hanging out for coffee or drink at the bars. It is nice to hang out with friends and having a good time. But it is nice also to discuss about interesting and creative things.
From the other side every discussion might be creative for any given individual, but I do feel like I'm not in the majority.

That's 100% correct. If you don't drink, don't do drugs or don't go clubs, people look at you like a weirdo.

People when they going out, most of the time they don't talk about art, they are just talking about their colleagues or news, weather, nothing even close to art. Unless you go out and talk about business, that's a different story.

From the other side every discussion might be creative for any given individual, but I do feel like I'm not in the majority.

Depending what's the discussion about, you probably are introvert as well
