Yes, I've been there a few times. A few years ago, when I was on holiday in Ticino, we took a speedboat (the ones that rise out of the water at a certain speed) to pay a visit to the Borromean Islands, further south on Lake Maggiore. They are magnificent! Best visited out of season to avoid the tourist crowds. I'll post a photo of the islands later.

Don't worry, northern Italy is not dangerous. Of course, tourists can occasionally be ripped off, but the mafia probably has little to do with this petty crime.
And for only a little more, you can visit Ticino, which is a lot like northern Italy, but perhaps a little safer.

Thinking to visiting Italy this year, most likely driving there.

No, I don't know Venice.
Don't go there in high season!
I've seen photos where you can't even see the ground, there are so many tourists...

To be honest, don't even know where is the high season in Italy. Was thinking in May.

• There is probably less people in November.
• I prefer a cold weather
• Think about the fantastic pictures you could get in Venice with some fog!
