I live in the western suburbs of Melbourne and I have access to a lot of smaller parks nearby, the coast is about 20 minutes away but all the good parks and coastline are at least an hour away. The one thing all tourist notice when they visit Oz is the massive span of the country and the amount of travel you have to do if you want to see a good chunk of it. When I visited my friend in Tasmania I thought everything would be a short drive away, wrong, you spend way more time travelling to a spot than you do at the actual spot. Lately I have been heading south west towards the start of the Great Ocean Road which is a famous and very picturesque stretch of road with great views along the coast which itself has many famous landmarks Like the 12 apostles rock formation as well as Torquay and Lorne which are 2 small beach towns synonymous with surfing culture. I have been doing astrophotography around this area which inludes the famous Bells beach - one of the locations for the world surf league competition. As the title says. What's the best location for landscape photography near where you live?
I have some nice location which is like 30 minutes drive from home. But if I want to get to National Parks, that's even more driving, between 3-4 hours drive.
